Christopher Emmanuel "Chris" Paul (born May 6, 1985) is an American professional basketball player of the La Clippers on the National Basketball Association (NBA). Standing at 6 ft 0 in (1.83 m) and weighing 175 lb (79 kg), he's got started exclusively in the position of point guard. Paul has won the NBA Rookie of the Year Award, an Olympic gold medal, and led a NBA for assists 3 times and steals six times. He's recently been elected to seven NBA All-Star teams, six All-NBA teams, and six All-Defensive teams.

Paul was a McDonald's All-American in high school. He attended Wake Forest University for 2 time spent college basketball where he helped the Demon Deacons obtain their first ever number one position. He was chosen 4th overall on the 2005 NBA draft by the New Orleans Hornets and traded into the Clippers in 2011.

On December 8, 2011, the Hornets accepted a three-team trade sending Paul on the Los Angeles Lakers. A NBA, that owned the team at the time, nullified the deal, along with commissioner David Stern claiming New Orleans would be better off keeping Paul.The teams involved in the trade tried out to negotiate the league to change its ruling and reconstruct the deal to no avail.On December 12, the Hornets agreed to a trade sending Paul into the Los Angeles Clippers, but the deal broke down once the NBA added additional demands for the original conditions. Two days later, the teams now formed the deal, transferring Paul and two future 2nd stage draft picks to the Clippers for Eric Gordon, Chris Kaman, Al-Farouq Aminu, and the Minnesota Timberwolves' unprotected first round pick inside the 2012 draft. Upon the deal's conclusion, Paul declared that he might opt in the final season of his contract and stay for L . A . for at least two more years.
